Weinbau Weber

Gut feeling makes the difference. The Webers are a strong family. Their winery in Deutsch Schützen is now in its fourth generation of winemaking with a focus on Blaufränkisch. While Alfred and Helga guard the ‘grail of Blaufränkisch wisdom’ with mindfulness and perseverance, their daughters Isabella and Martina contribute their own future-orientated vision and love of experimentation.

The respectful interaction between young and old creates a healthy tension and vitality – which is also wonderfully apparent in their wines.

The family’s vineyards are scattered across the entire Deutsch-Schütz hillside, in the Ratschen, Weinberg and Bründlgfangen vineyards, where loamy, mineral soils set the tone and give the wines their typical, dense flavour. Through ‘down-to-earth’ work in the vineyard and with a good measure of gut feeling, the characteristics of each wine year are captured. The Weber family loves to serve their wines to interested connoisseurs over a good chat in the charming ambience of the winery. Tip: be sure to try the home-baked Salzstangerl, a southern Burgenland speciality!
