Blaufränkisch pioneers. The Krutzler winery is considered a pioneer in the Austrian red wine scene. Around 40 years ago, Hermann Krutzler focused on the Blaufränkisch grape variety, which was rather unpopular at the time, and earned great acclaim with the typical, elegant Blaufränkisch style of his ‘Perwolff’. Krutzler thus paved the way for the entire region on the international wine scene. ‘Perwolff’ has been traded as a cult wine ever since.

Today, Reinhold Krutzler is the fourth generation to run the family winery in Deutsch Schützen, with a deep, inherent understanding of the Blaufränkisch grape variety. With his son Clemens, the next generation is already taking over the Blaufränkisch legacy step by step. For both of them, every wine from the Krutzler estate strives for elegance – and that naturally takes time. Only with maturity does the typical, strong tannin structure of Blaufränkisch wines marry with the fruity aroma of the variety and the finesse-rich minerality of the slate soils.
